Ōtautahi |Social studies

Hello everyone, in Social studies we are learning more about Christchurch and other places or landmarks in Christchurch. I have learned new things in New Zealand and I also know more about it. We made a Prezi about this and I also hope you like it.  

Reflection: It's a bit hard on putting information since most of the information is a bit hard to understand. It's also hard to put pictures and clips to the Prezi. Making the Prezi was very hard since there are things I haven't explored.

Workshop #3 Costume | English2021

1. The Reaping Scene - District 12
-The children of the district 12 have gathered together for the reaping to select the tributes. 
- Boys - Shirt - buttoned/colours, shorts, pants, white, colourless, faded, dull, over washed.
- Girls - dresses, shirt & skirt,
- Best clothes, probably only worn once a year, worn out colourless, faded.  

Viewer - We feel sorry for the people, they seem powerless, they live in poor conditions. 

Directors purpose - show us how bad their conditions are, want us to see them as weak, unprepared, hopeless. 

Other techniques - high angle with the faded colour makes them seem weak, vulnerable, helpless. 


2. The Capitol - Arriving in the city. 
- Katniss & Peeta have arrived by train in the Capitol
- The clothes are extravagant!
- over the top
- colourful, vibrant
- accessories - hat/earrings/make-up, wigs/shoes/bags/dogs.
- new - like only worn once, 'fashionable' 
- access to good quality fabrics, patterns. 

Viewer effect - make the, seem higher rank, privilege, relaxed, we don't like them - attitude of entitlement, clueless.

Directors purpose - shows themes of imbalance of power of rich vs poor

other techniques - the setting is crowded, people are happy, the buildings are modern, big, well kept, shows that Capitol is privileged. 

3. The countdown 
- The tributes have just arrived in the arena and are waiting to start the games.
- Costumes - survival ger, browns, black, dark colours, jackets, pants, t-shirts, designed to look good, to be practical, lightweight. 

Viewer effect - the tributes look prepared, fit, athletic

Directors purpose - they are going to die, the outfits are just for the audience (the Capitols) makes it seem more pageant-like. 

Other techniques - silicene - worried, excited to see what happens, anxious, builds tension, the audience focus.

Looking back this term. (Term 1- Esol)

Hello everyone, looking back to this term 1 in Esol, it has been a bit unorganized. There is a lot of changes in the activities and the work we are supposed to do. But some of the activities are still fun and all of us can still enjoy. Some of the students in Esol is a bit disrespectful so some of the activities can be unfun. I think the students should respect the teacher more and do actual work. I think the worksheet that we get is better 'cause some people actually do the work and be quiet. I think some students should be organised too so they would always be ready in class times. Next term I wish that people could be organised, do their work and also have a good time in Esol.

Arts Kete - Comic

Hello guys and girls, so this art kete we are making comics, some people are finishing their comics and here am I still finishing mine so it will be very hard to finish it really fast. The comic I´m making is about a guy who got transferred into a fake world which is the world he made from his computer.here is the story I made.


Story?
  A boy who is alone has no friends he makes friends with his drawings and one day he was making a  comic about a powerful girl who will save her world but she has no control over her powers so she needs help. Boy: sigh* ¨let me take a little nap zZZ¨ (computer starts doing something and boy transfer into the drawing world) Boy: wakes up in the world he doesn’t know and saw the girl she draws, questions about the world and helps the girl to control her power and defeat the evil man.  The evil men keep making bad people by drawing them and the boy has to make a weapon for the girl to defeat the villain. 

I´m still creating their names because it's hard to think a name, you could help me if you won't think of the names for characters. Here are the characters that I made and you can name the characters if you want.

Characters
  • An artist who made a hero (he's a boy)
  • A girl who has power and will save her world ( the boy who made her)
  • Villain - unknown ( an artist who creates bad people )  
Conclusion: I would try my best to finish it and make it pretty so you guys would like it.
