Land Yacht - Science

Hello Everyone, in science we made a land yacht. We are working on Forces and motion and making a land yacht is a good example of this topic.

Aim: Our goal is to make our land yacht and who will be the faster.
Method: Cart, card box, Plastic bag, stick and strings.

Result: Our distance was 4.5m and our time was 7.3sec. We have to divide them together and get our score. Our score was 0.61.

How to calculate -
v = d/t
v (speed) d (distance) t (time)

Conclusion: The air passed through our bow in the front of our boat. The air goes in our plastic bag and the air moves our land yacht.

Rubbish Collection Diary | Social studies

Hello everyone, in social studies we are working on graphing, we have to collect data to know how much waste we have thrown into our rubbishes.  I didn't really collect any data since I have forgotten to collect the data. I use someone else's one since I've forgotten to track my data. There are questions asked when we finished our graph but first, this is the graph that I made.

Q1: What can be done to reduce what goes in your rubbish bin?
We can reduce waste by eating less or use more recyclable things.
Q2: Where was the majority of your waste going Organics/Rubbish/Recycling?
Well, this person waste is mostly going to rubbish.
Q3: Did you find one day had more waste than the other day? Why was this?
Yes because they have been eating something that is more recyclable or something that goes in the waste more.

Hunter swoop | English2021

The darkness is painted on the wall.

The graffiti makes the tunnel more mysterious as if a lot of people has been here.

Dirty floor, cans, plastics and trashes can be found in the tunnel.

My body stiffens while I walk through the tunnel.

I regret doing this, why did I even choose dare in the first place. I don't even know what's the end of the tunnel. What if a Monsters comes to me and eat me alive. I'm almost at the end of the tunnel, I don't feel really good about it. The dare was to walk at the end of the tunnel but I don't think I would actually do that. Suddenly a sound can be heard at the end of the tunnel. My eyes widen and my body stiffens. What will happen next...

Hunter Swoop | English2021

Left side - Cloud cample together as if they will be apart.

Right side - The ombre look of the sky makes me think of my beautiful past.

Swoop down the bottom - The sky reflected on the water as the colours printed down the water.

Swing round into the middle - Sitting down the bridge as I look at the beautiful scenery. I take out all my problem by just seeing the scenery, I don't wanna take my anger out of people as I know that I will also get hurt. I keep my feet in the water as it calms me down.

Hunter Swoop | English2021 - The Forest

(Left side)The tree stands tall as if it's a wall. As they tangle their branches as they hug each other.

(Right side) The other side is the opposite world. As if they hate each other because of the spacing between them.

(Around the middle) The dirty water is seen as it reflects the tall trees.

(The top of the middle) The orange leaves give me a path where I believe I had walked where I explore the mysterious forest.

Simile & Metaphor | English2021

Hello everyone, in English we are learning about Simile & Metaphor. We are supposed to put them answer them and also put them in order if they are simile or metaphor. Here are the questions and the answers that I answered.

Copy these sentences onto your blog and highlight the simile in each:

  2. The classroom after school became as noisy as a gaggle of gabby geese.

  3. The cat capered along the fence top like a tightrope walker on the hire wire.

Use a word from the box to complete each simile

The wet ball was as slippery as an eel.
My little sister is as playful as a kitten.
The top of this table is as smooth as silk.
I’ve been as busy as a bee.

Idioms | English2021

Hello everyone, in English we are learning about idioms. Idioms - say things that are understood in ordinary English and do not mean what they say. Idioms are not meant to be taken literally; e.g ‘My teacher is the bomb!’. We are asked to find the meaning of idioms that are asked to answer. Here is the column where I work out my answers or answer the questions.

Figurative Column

Literal Column

a.Just chill out dude!

It means: Calm down.

b. ‘He is driving me up the wall!’

It means: He is making me so angry.

c. ‘His nose is out of joint’

It means: He is getting annoyed

d. The teacher is a real scream

It means: It means that they are humorous or funny.

e. What is she cooking up in her mind right now?

It means: What is she thinking about.

f. He gave her the eye.

It means: it’s like looking at someone/ you are looking at someone sexually

The literal column is where we have to pick an idiom and make them into a picture where we take them seriously. Here are the pictures that I made.

The Hunter Swoop

Calming blue sky as the cloud formations in the sky.

The large mountain is clouded by fluffy clouds.

The road is formed with a small amount of ice, not a single car can be seen on the road. A long way to the mountains, to see the heavenly view.

The yellow line in the middle of the road separating other sides of the beautiful views.

Sustainable Fishing

Hello everyone, in Social studies, we are still looking at sustainable fishing. We are given questions to answer and have to search more about this to know more about this.

How is commercial fishing a threat to dolphins and birdlife?
This is a problem because most commercials are over-fishing and don't tell the buyers because they need money. Most commercials lie because they want to have a good image for people who are buying their product. This is a threat because they over-fish and this wipe other fishes that are endangered.

What is bycatch?
Bycatch is where people accidentally catch something they shouldn’t catch.

Shark Finning | Social studies

Hello everyone, in social studies we are looking at shark finning. Shark finning is where people kill sharks and cut their fins and make them into soup. We are finding more information about it and we have to answer some question that is quite questionable.

What is it?
Shark finning is something delicacy in china. Shark finning is where people catch sharks and cut off their fins and make them into soup

Why is this delicacy?
It's because it's expensive and this kind of a show-off how rich they are. This also a traditional thing in China.

How is this impacting our oceans?
This impacts us by the food chain, if the sharks are gone the other food chain will be wiped off because other fishes will over populate.

Starfish Poem | Social studies

Hello everyone, in social studies we read a poem about a starfish. We have to blog about this and find more information behind the poem. Here is the poem about the starfish.

THE  STARFISH  POEM

Once upon a time, there was a wise man
who used to go to the ocean
to do his writing.
He had a habit of walking
on the beach
before he began his work.
One day he was walking along
the shore.
As he looked down the beach,
he saw a human
figure moving like a dancer.
He smiled to himself to think
of someone who would
dance to the day.
So he began to walk faster
to catch up.
As he got closer, he saw
that it was a young man
and the young man wasn't dancing,
but instead he was reaching
down to the shore,
picking up something
and very gently throwing it
into the ocean.
As he got closer he called out,
"Good morning! What are you doing?"
The young man paused,
looked up and replied,
"Throwing starfish in the ocean."
"I guess I should have asked,
why are you throwing starfish in the ocean?"
"The sun is up and the tide is going out.
And if I don't throw them in they'll die."
"But, young man, don't you realize that
there are miles and miles of beach
and starfish all along it.
You can't possibly make a difference!"
The young man listened politely.
Then bent down, picked up another starfish
and threw it into the sea,
past the breaking waves and said-
"It made a difference for that one."

Evidence: The message is that small actions can be big action. Even though not a lot of people do this, 1 person can change everything. The poem also explains to us that we need to help the ecosystem and this can have a big change on our planet. Even though it's a small action it still matters. You can make a change even though it's insignificant and small we can make a change.
