Hypogeal |Gamefroot - DTE

Hello everyone, in DTE we made a game that function and show others the work we have done. Our first project was to make a Halloween themed game and is about a pumpkin. It was based on the dinosaur game when you lost your internet. We didn't use this game because there are lots of errors that have occurred when we were making the game so we thought of another plan. The game didn't work because Mr told us that there is a better game development to use than Scratch. So we listen to Mr and took his advice and use the game that would make our game better, but the game development 'Game Froot' cannot make your own characters which is why we changed our plans and made another game that is functional and better than scratch. We were having a tough time making the game because we didn't know anything about Gamefroot so we took our time to understand it and in the end, we finally understand it and also finished the game.
When working on this game, we had a lot of a hard time understanding it. I have used this game development before but I didn't know much about it and how it functions. We tried a lot of methods so our game could work. This game was called 'Hypogeal' Hypogeal means Underground. The game is about an apocalyptic world and where the character hides in a cave underground but didn't expect all of the possibilities that can be in the cave. The character needs to try and leave the cave before anything more happens. The Character need to survive and also finish the game. We were supposed to put Makey Makey in our game but we were too focused on our game than the Makey Makey that we have no time to make it.

Reflection:
We had so many errors occurs while making the game but we fixed this and finished our game in time. The difficulties that we went through was the instruction on the games, finding a game development that we can use and also functional one and also making ideas of what game we wanted to make.

Science - Volcano eruption

Hello everyone, in Science we are learning about Volcanoes, in this project my team and I researched about the volcanoes we wanted to make. The Volcano that we made is Taal Volcano. Here is the thing we had discovered.

A caldera forms when a volcano erupts and then collapses, this creates a large depression.

Types of rock formations that form around the volcano.

Olivine Basalt is a type of mineral.

Andesite

Plan
Make a border around the volcano and make it look like the volcano looks like it’s submerged in water.
We need to make it slightly taller than the bottle we’re going to use while still making it look like just the very top of the volcano.

Making the base out of cardboard, we will roughly cut out the shape of the volcano.

Reaction: Elephant's Toothpaste
Hydrogen Peroxide and Potassium Permanganate - Turns brown as a chemical reaction between the oxygen and the Potassium Permanganate.

Put warm water in a bottle, then put Potassium Permanganate crystals. Mix.

Add 1-2 drops of detergent to the mixture.

Find an open space.

Pour Hydrogen Peroxide in a measuring cylinder, pour till satisfied with the amount.

Then, quickly pour the Hydrogen Peroxide into the bottle, wait for the reaction.

  • Atmosphere - Foreboding, Nervous, Reluctant, Hesitant - Lighting and colour2 - Dialogue 1- Close up 3
SEXXXY Paragraph

In the scene 'They don't own me', dialogue is used to create a foreboding atmosphere. Katniss and Peeta are having a conversation about how the upcoming games might affect them. This is demonstrated by the quote "I don' want them to change me", another "If I'm gonna die, I still wanna be me" spoken by Peeta. These show that Peeta has a sense that he is going to have to do things that he doesn't want to do like kill others. This makes the audience feel sorry for Peeta because he is likely going to die, or to kill others to stay alive. The director did this to make us believe that Peeta die early and that being a tribute isn't something to celebrate but a loss of personal autonomy. This work well with colour the dark colours of black and greys which add to the foreboding atmosphere. This aspect can be contrasted to when Peeta joins the Career Pack once in the game because they are cold-hearted killers which is what Peeta didn't want to be.

Workshop #5: Music | English2021

Tempo - Speed of the Music - fast/ slow/ moderate
Dynamic - Volume - how loud or quiet it is
Key - Major - Happy sound, Minor - sad sound sound

Rues Death: How is music used to create atmosphere:  Depressing/ sad/ mournful
Minor, tempo - slow, dynamics - quiet, gets louder as Katniss raises her salute and District 11 riots.

- What happened - Rue is killed, Katniss tries to give her body the closest to a burial that she can.

- Colour/ lighting - While flowers, natural lighting, greens, stands out ⟶ innocence and pure - Rue never killed anyone, kind, compassionate, victim.

- Shots/ angles - Medium close-ups - Rue and Katniss - see their emotion and facial expression - anguish
- High angle - weak and vulnerable - Rue is an inoocent and blameless victim.

🠂Effect on the viewer - the atmosphere of remorse/intense sadness, as the volume increases it builds the intensity of the emotions - we see emotions are contagious - hope.

Directors purpose: feel Katniss's emotions at that moment - remorse, anger, helplessness, acceptance, rebellion
- Symbol of 3 finger salute is a sign of defiance and anger toward the game makers - you will not take my humanity, also a symbol of unification with those who have lost loved ones to the games.

Music is used to create an atmosphere of sorrow and remorse in Rue's death scene. In this scene we see Katniss dealing with the slaughter of her young friend Rue. For example, the tempo is slow, the dynamics are quiet and the key is minor to reflect the emotional rollercoaster that Katniss is feeling. Like the music, Katniss moves slowly and methodically to cover Rue's body in white flowers. As she finishes, the music build in volume, showing the increasing intensity of her anger and grief towards the Capitol. This makes us understand the pain experienced by the families of the tributes when they are killed each year. This was done to enable the viewers to feel the characters' emotions. This worked well with the use of white flowers to symbolize Rue's innocence and purity and the high angle shot making her weak and vulnerable. Combine with the music we are shown that Rue is a victim of the cruelty of the Capitol.

What did Hitler says about Jews? | Social studies

Hello everyone, on social studies, we are looking at why Hitler hates Jews or how Hitler viewed the Jews. We look at the quotes that Hitler wrote and what does he mean.

"The Jews were responsible for bringing negroes into the Rhineland with the ultimate idea of bastarding (lowering the quality of) the white race which they hate and thus lowering its cultural and political level so the Jew might dominate"

The quote is about Hitler blaming the Jews for how they ruined the white race and lowering their culture. Hitler is saying that Jews are evil and should not let them dominate their country because Hitler said that Jew doesn't like white people and they want to lower their race. Hitler thinks that if Jews take over they want their country to weaken.

The Great Depression 1929

Hello everyone, in Social studies we are learning about The holocaust.

Germany was hit the hardest during the depression because of how much loan they owe. They were told to pay billions of dollars in reparations to the allies. Many people lost their jobs and their economy fell.

Germany has to accept full responsibility for starting world war 1 and pay for the debt they own or allied for the war they lost. They have to agree to any terms and the significant ones were the reparations, reduction in Germany military and ownership. Their army was reduced to 100 thousand. They have to get rid of a lot of their submarines, military aircraft and artillery. The treaty was one of the reasons that Hitler and the Nazi power got into power to get rid of the Chains of Versailles. This is what Germany has to accept and agree on.

In 1929 - 33 New Zealand was also affected by the depression when export prices began to plummet and fall down to 45%. As an arguited county this has a huge impact.

Land Yacht - Science

Hello Everyone, in science we made a land yacht. We are working on Forces and motion and making a land yacht is a good example of this topic.

Aim: Our goal is to make our land yacht and who will be the faster.
Method: Cart, card box, Plastic bag, stick and strings.

Result: Our distance was 4.5m and our time was 7.3sec. We have to divide them together and get our score. Our score was 0.61.

How to calculate -
v = d/t
v (speed) d (distance) t (time)

Conclusion: The air passed through our bow in the front of our boat. The air goes in our plastic bag and the air moves our land yacht.

Rubbish Collection Diary | Social studies

Hello everyone, in social studies we are working on graphing, we have to collect data to know how much waste we have thrown into our rubbishes.  I didn't really collect any data since I have forgotten to collect the data. I use someone else's one since I've forgotten to track my data. There are questions asked when we finished our graph but first, this is the graph that I made.

Q1: What can be done to reduce what goes in your rubbish bin?
We can reduce waste by eating less or use more recyclable things.
Q2: Where was the majority of your waste going Organics/Rubbish/Recycling?
Well, this person waste is mostly going to rubbish.
Q3: Did you find one day had more waste than the other day? Why was this?
Yes because they have been eating something that is more recyclable or something that goes in the waste more.

The darkness is painted on the wall.

The graffiti makes the tunnel more mysterious as if a lot of people has been here.

Dirty floor, cans, plastics and trashes can be found in the tunnel.

My body stiffens while I walk through the tunnel.

I regret doing this, why did I even choose dare in the first place. I don't even know what's the end of the tunnel. What if a Monsters comes to me and eat me alive. I'm almost at the end of the tunnel, I don't feel really good about it. The dare was to walk at the end of the tunnel but I don't think I would actually do that. Suddenly a sound can be heard at the end of the tunnel. My eyes widen and my body stiffens. What will happen next...

Idioms | English2021

Hello everyone, in English we are learning about idioms. Idioms - say things that are understood in ordinary English and do not mean what they say. Idioms are not meant to be taken literally; e.g ‘My teacher is the bomb!’. We are asked to find the meaning of idioms that are asked to answer. Here is the column where I work out my answers or answer the questions.

Figurative Column

Literal Column

a.Just chill out dude!

It means: Calm down.

b. ‘He is driving me up the wall!’

It means: He is making me so angry.

c. ‘His nose is out of joint’

It means: He is getting annoyed

d. The teacher is a real scream

It means: It means that they are humorous or funny.

e. What is she cooking up in her mind right now?

It means: What is she thinking about.

f. He gave her the eye.

It means: it’s like looking at someone/ you are looking at someone sexually

The literal column is where we have to pick an idiom and make them into a picture where we take them seriously. Here are the pictures that I made.
