Looking back this term. (Term 1- Esol)

Hello everyone, looking back to this term 1 in Esol, it has been a bit unorganized. There is a lot of changes in the activities and the work we are supposed to do. But some of the activities are still fun and all of us can still enjoy. Some of the students in Esol is a bit disrespectful so some of the activities can be unfun. I think the students should respect the teacher more and do actual work. I think the worksheet that we get is better 'cause some people actually do the work and be quiet. I think some students should be organised too so they would always be ready in class times. Next term I wish that people could be organised, do their work and also have a good time in Esol.

Live Aid - Social Studies

Hello everyone, in social studies we are looking at the live aid. Live aid is a big concert, it is held in Wembley Stadium in London and in JFK Stadium in Philadelphia.

Bob Geldof is one of the main organisers in the live aid. He is famous for their song 'I don't like Mondays' the song was about the school shooting in San Diego. Bob Geldolf is also famous for being a musician and being in 'Boomtown Rat'.

Midge Ure is known for being a musician. He is also one of the organisers of Live aid. He is famous for being a musician. He created the song 'Do they know it's Christmas' and he made it with Bob Geldof and other more artist.

Lyrics:

It's Christmas time, there's no need to be afraid
At Christmas time, we let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty we can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world at Christmas time
But say a prayer, Pray for the other ones
At Christmas time it's hard, but when you're having fun
There's a world outside your window
And it's a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing
Is the bitter sting of tears
And the Christmas bells that ring
There are the clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you
And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time
The greatest gift they'll get this year is life
Where nothing ever grows
No rain nor rivers flow
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?
Here's to you
Raise a glass for everyone
Spare a thought this yuletide for the deprived
If the table was turned would you survive
Here's to them
Underneath that burning sun
You ain't gotta feel guilt just selfless
Give a little help to the helpless
Do they know it's Christmas time at all?
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time again
Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time again
Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time again
Feed the world
Let them know it's Christmas time again
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
Feed the world
(Feed the world)
Feed the world
Feed the world

What is it about?
The song 'Do they know it's Christmas' is about the people in Africa who is suffering extreme hunger in October 1984. They made this song to let everyone know that Africa doesn't have time celebrating Christmas because of their hunger. It gives us idea that we should pay attention to them and let them experience christmas. The money that the song made was donated to famine relief.

Neutralisation - Science

Hello everyone, in science we are looking at Neutralisation.

Aim: Our aim is to find out what kind of acid or base it is or we have to find out the difference between the pH scales and if they are acidic or a base.

Method:
  1. Put some universal indicator on each test tube.
  2. By using Hydrochloric acid and sodium hydroxide to create different pH scales.
  3. Then observe the results.
Result:
- When the colours/pH scales are in order, we observe them properly to know if they are in the right order.

Discussion:
- The experiment was fun because we could see the different colours and the arrange spectrum of pH scales. It was nice seeing different colour happening when pouring the acid and the base together in the test tube. The thing that we struggle with was where we have to make it around the pH of 7 to 14 because it's hard to make them without adding way too much base or acid. The acid and the base we used was quite strong so it was hard to make it in the right order but apparently, my partner and I succeed at doing that.

Conclusion:
- The result we ended up with was the arrange spectrum of pH scales.
