Hello everyone, in DTE we made a game that function and show others the work we have done. Our first project was to make a Halloween themed game and is about a pumpkin. It was based on the dinosaur game when you lost your internet. We didn't use this game because there are lots of errors that have occurred when we were making the game so we thought of another plan. The game didn't work because Mr told us that there is a better game development to use than Scratch. So we listen to Mr and took his advice and use the game that would make our game better, but the game development 'Game Froot' cannot make your own characters which is why we changed our plans and made another game that is functional and better than scratch. We were having a tough time making the game because we didn't know anything about Gamefroot so we took our time to understand it and in the end, we finally understand it and also finished the game.
When working on this game, we had a lot of a hard time understanding it. I have used this game development before but I didn't know much about it and how it functions. We tried a lot of methods so our game could work. This game was called 'Hypogeal' Hypogeal means Underground. The game is about an apocalyptic world and where the character hides in a cave underground but didn't expect all of the possibilities that can be in the cave. The character needs to try and leave the cave before anything more happens. The Character need to survive and also finish the game. We were supposed to put Makey Makey in our game but we were too focused on our game than the Makey Makey that we have no time to make it.
Reflection:
We had so many errors occurs while making the game but we fixed this and finished our game in time. The difficulties that we went through was the instruction on the games, finding a game development that we can use and also functional one and also making ideas of what game we wanted to make.
Game: Hypogeal
Kia ora Alliah,
ReplyDeleteWoah, I'm so impressed with your game and your dedication to working through the challenges you had making it - especially because you already knew one game program, and instead of using that you went out of your way to explore a new one that you were finding complicated. That is really courageous learning, which is inspiring for me to read about, so well done for documenting your thinking process so clearly.
I'd be curious to know what it was exactly about the Gamefroot program that was better than Scratch! Do you think that you will keep using Scratch for other projects, or will it only be Gamefroot from here on?
I played your game! It took my about 3 attempts but I finally made it through the first level. It was really fun. I love the random floating chicken drumsticks. Lol. I didn't have time to keep playing on the next level where you are a skeleton, but I hope that I have some time today so that I can come back and give it a go. How many hours do you guys reckon you spent on making this game from beginning to end?
I'm curious if you guys have showed your younger siblings this game. I bet they will love it and be so inspired by your creation.
Do you think you'll make another one this summer?
Keep up the great mahi, guys.
