Home chemistry

Aim: To learn the names of 10 household chemicals and identify if they are a solid, liquid or a gas.

Definitions:

  1. Element; A single form of a chemical
  2. Compound: A mixture made up of 2 or more elements
  3. Reaction: A process in which chemicals mix together to form a new substance.
  4. Mixture: When two or more elements are mixed together.

Equipment:

  1.  lemon juice
  2. salt
  3. sugar
  4. vinegar
  5. lemonade bubbles
  6. onion gas
  7.   baking soda
  8.   milk
  9.   corn flour/ corn starch
  10.  banana
Steps:

1. name the chemical.
2. research.
3.put the name of the chemical at the chart.
4.write what did you learn and see.

Repeat the steps for all the chemicals.

Task 1: Put the 10 chemicals in a chart with the titles - Name, Chemical ingredient(s), Image, Solid/Liquid/Gas.

CONCLUSION: ( WHAT DID YOU LEARN OR SEE)

This Tuesday, April 2, 2019, we are doing a research about chemical foods names the chemical we saw the Aim of it was to finish naming the chemical that was written at the board by Mr. Palmer and here an example about what we did and research
for example:
name               chemical          picture/image        is it Liquid / Solid or Gas
lemonade         citric acid          ????????                          Liquid
and here was the definition I get from the name of the food or drink (or you could look at the chart to look at the names and what food we research or what chemical is it )  and it was...
  • Citric acid
  • Sodium Chloride
  • Glucose
  • Ethanoic acid
  • carbon dioxide
  • syn-Propanethial-S-oxide
  • Sodium bicarbonate
  • Magnesium Hydroxide
  • Amylum
  • Isoamyl acetate

The things we research was fun to search and hard at the same time because the chemical we were searching was tough to search and one of them is because there are so many words and numbers that you can’t even explain.  After researching we then have to put if this is liquid/ Gas or Solid.
