Alkaline metals

Hello everyone, this term 2, week 1 in Science, we are learning about metals. We did an experiment and we also look for the other metals in the periodic table.

What is an Alkaline metal?
-Alkaline metal is highly reactive and they form strongly Alkali dioxide.

What reaction did we do yesterday?
-It started to have an explosion. The sodium reacted to water and cause for it to explode. This reacted this way because of the chemicals reacting. The product and the reactants are Sodium(2Na) + Water(H20)  ⇾ Sodium oxide(Na20) + H2

Why do these metals react this way?
It only has 1 electron which is why it's highly reactive.
